Early in 2009 while David Swafford and his mother were taking one of their Sunday afternoon drives, she directed David to Charleston to show
him where they had filmed the movie "Wild River'. After that day, he became interested in finding out more about the movie. As anyone would do today, David went to the Internet and found very little. With
very little printed or electronic information, he soon realized this was a part of our local history was about to be lost. Local Wild River historian and author David Swafford took
action and began doing research that has led to the discovery and the best collection of Wild River pictures and stories in the country. David will release his book, "Stars on the Hiwassee",
later this year, the 50th Anniversary of the filming of the movie. Nearly 200 pictures, plus never heard stories, will be part of this important and fun part of the history of Charleston and Bradley County,
Tennessee. The date of the book release has not been set. But, we are now accepting names of people who might be interested in the book. This is not a commitment to buy, we are
just trying to calculate how many book we should print. If you sign up now, you will be given the opportunity to buy at a prerelease price. Send your name, address and e-mail name to davidswafford@charter.net |
